to electrical work...

If you need to have a switch or receptacle replaced a handyman can perform those types of repairs.
For that matter if you need to have a light fixture or ceiling fan replaced a handyman can do that as well.
However, if you want to have a new circuit installed, only a licensed electrician can do the work.

many handymen will tell you that they "can do the work". Just recognize that it is illegal for them to do so
and because it is illegal their insurance will not cover any problems that they may cause.
