Most roof leaks are found from inside the home, yup that ugly brown stain on the ceiling.
Your shingles may have a very long warranty, but that does not include the rubber boots
on the plumbing vents. Typically the warranty covers manufacturer defects. Installation
warranty, if any, is usually very short term.

Like anything else around your home, be aware. Walk around the house from a good
distance looking at the roof. If you see a very localized discoloration, chances are
you have a broken shingle tab. While I do not want to put a new roof on a house, making
repairs of this nautre is right up my alley.
